The Brilliance and Authority of Jesus

"The adventure of life is to learn. The purpose of life is to grow. The nature of life is to change. The challenge of life is to overcome. The essence of life is to care. The opportunity of like is to serve. The secret of life is to dare. The spice of life is to befriend. The beauty of life is to give." -William Arthur Ward

Hey loved people!

I would rather risk sounding like a broken record than not tell you just how loved you are. My prayer is that the Father would lavish a new-feeling love on you, a love that lets you know that He is in it for the long haul, that although it is His desire to see you live victoriously now, that He would wait an eternity to see the chains that still bind you to fall off. I just want you to know that. I want you to know that it is for freedom that Christ set you free, that the Christian life, the way God intended, is full of excitement, adventures, freedom, chances, leaps and bounds, tears, conversations, hugs...it is not a high and elevanted life, but a real, human one. That's why Jesus came to earth and walked on real ground, held the hands of real people, cried real tears...He did this because he wants you to know just how much He loves you and just how real and tanglible it is to live for the Father. As you go about your weeks, remember that. Remember that there are far many more ways to serve the Father than just small group, going to church, or visiting your local homeless shelter. The ways to serve Him are enescapable They are in the moments on the bus when He puts the Downs Syndrom boy next to you (remind me to tell you that story later :-). They are when your at work. They are in the grocery store. They are dowtown on a Friday night. They are in your workplace. They are in your home. They are in a foreign countries.

Now, about meeting 4.

Belynn opened up her house this past weekend to our team for a time of fun and praise.
We started out with a super fun game. Don't even ask me to explain it to you; I really couldn't. What you should know, though, is that--how can I say this in the most Christian-like way possible?--the boys are cheaters.

After we hung out and got to spend some much-needed time goofing off, Juandi talked to us about what God had been putting on his heart for the past few weeks about the Authority of Jesus.

Allow me to share the scripture he did :-).

"Also a dispute arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest. Jesus said to them, 'The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules, like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.'" -Luke 22:24-27

"Power" means "to exercise authority." Jesus exemplified what it means to exercise power through service.

Jesus, please show us how to serve like you.

Well, the trip is getting nearer. Our group is excited to have this blessed opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We are so thankful for your prayers and financial support. Please continue to pray with and for us. We love serving along with you. We value your prayers so much.

Pray...
  • That we would see the brevity of this trip. Pray against the feeling that this is just another missions trip. Ask the Father that He would bestow on us hearts full of love that are ready to pour out.
  • For more financial support. We are so thankful to those who have given so far.
  • For protection over our minds and hearts, that our minds would follow the love for God that's in our hearts and that we wouldn't be our own distractions.
Grace and peace be with you! May they be your companions over the next weeks. May both stillness and fervor be in your heart. May He meet you where you are, whether that be in the midst of joy, pain, darkness, fear, gladness, or frustration. I know He would love to do that for you. I just know.

Love,

Michelle
